South Acton Imagination Library (SAIL) is an inspirational new book gifting scheme for children in South Acton, west London.

We aim to improve literacy, life chances and family relationships in South Acton, by arranging for a new book every month to be delivered free of charge to kids born from 2013 onwards, up to their fifth birthday. We work closely with the South Acton Children’s Centre, based on the South Acton estate.

The scheme is really simple!

Babies registered with the scheme receive a FREE BOOK through the post EVERY MONTH, personally addressed to them. The books will keep coming all the way up to their FIFTH BIRTHDAY, so they will be able to build their own ‘imagination library’ of 60 books – every one an adventure they can experience any time with their family.

The books are specially selected by a panel of literacy and education experts to be perfect for developing young minds, starting with the children’s classic, The Tale of Peter Rabbit.

It’s also really cost effective!

SAIL is affiliated to the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, the charity created by the legendary singer Dolly Parton. The DPIL has registered over 25,000 children in over 60 schemes across the UK and has vital partnerships with Penguin publishers and the Royal Mail. Being part of the Imagination Library network means that donations go a long way – each quality book costs just over £2, meaning we can support a child from birth until it’s 5th birthday for £125.
